I often wonder if the challenges we face get more difficult as we get older. Although Im still young, I have already faced a number of challenges in my life already. A recent challenge for me was to prepare for, and take, the IELTS test which I have never done before.

Fortunately for me, I was offered the chance to study my Masters in the UK, but I had one obstacle, and that was the IELTS test. I needed to get an overall score of seven to be able to apply to study at my chosen university. What made it more demanding was the fact that I had only two months to achieve this score.

Having researched information about the test, I set about organizing my time, so that I was able to practice English every day. A particular problem for me was speaking English as I didnt have an opportunity to speak English where I lived. Luckily, a friend recommended an online teacher, who is a native speaker, to practice conversations. At first, I was really shy to speak, but with her encouragement, it wasnt long before my confidence started to grow, and I wasnt ashamed of making mistakes. The conversation lessons also helped me with my writing as the teacher was able to advise me about my grammar errors too. With a lot of practice tests, I was able to complete the questions within the timescales given, and this really boosted my confidence.
