Public health always arouses governments great concern, and many governments allocate a huge amount of funds to guarantee their citizens wellbeing. However, who should bear this responsibility has always been a controversial topic. In my opinion, individuals should take more responsibility for their health other than governments increasing attention.

It is true that several measures could be taken by governments to prevent diseases to some degree. Firstly, severe environmental pollution poses a threat to the publics health. If the citizens are living in an environment where the air and the contaminants are detrimental to themselves, it is most likely that there will be a negative effect on their health. As for the housing condition, if essential living facilities, such as reasonable room for living and qualified drinkable water, cannot be provided, the residents wellbeing are highly possible to be affected as well. For instance, they may suffer from infectious diseases like malaria and cholera due to poor sanitation.

However, it is not rational to deem that the government is the only responsibility taker for this problem, people should also try to form and maintain a positive lifestyle to reduce the chance of getting diseases. For instance, people should be encouraged to take in more nutritious foods like fresh vegetables and fruits rather than food which is high in sugar and salt. Apart from this, exercising on a regular basis is also beneficial on building up the bodies, which reduces the chances of being sick. Otherwise, people still have great odds to get diseases that resulted from their undesirable living habits.

To sum up, it is necessary for governments to take measures to ensure a pleasant living condition, but citizens also should be responsible for their own health.
